Overview
Founded in 1959 and based in Omaha, Nebraska, Dial Senior Living owns and manages over 20 retirement communities across the U.S. The company provides seniors with maintenance-free living, security, and a comfortable, family-oriented environment, ensuring compassionate care and high-quality accommodations.
The Challenge
As Dial Senior Living expanded, their previous IT solution could no longer support their growing needs. They faced performance issues with end-user computing and connectivity and needed a more robust, scalable solution. The company sought to migrate their infrastructure to IP Pathways’ AdaptiveCloud™ platform but needed guidance on specifics like virtual machines, compute power, and data requirements. They wanted an expert to assist with the modernization process and identify the most effective solutions for their unique needs.
Our Solution
P Pathways deployed an AdaptiveIT expert on-site to assess Dial Senior Living’s infrastructure, revealing outdated systems and bandwidth issues caused by remote desktop usage. We implemented a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution to enhance performance and reduce bandwidth consumption. To strengthen security, we integrated our Managed Firewall as a Service with the VDI platform.
IP Pathways then migrated Dial’s infrastructure to our data center, using VMware View and AdaptiveCloud™ to support their growing needs without requiring new hardware. This solution allowed their systems to scale alongside their expanding properties, speeding up the rollout process.
Our AdaptiveIT expert worked with Dial’s team to standardize hardware across facilities and consolidate software, simplifying management and improving consistency.
The Results
Dial Senior Living saw significant improvements in system performance, leading to smoother transitions during new construction projects. Lisa Moes, Vice President of Business Development, praised IP Pathways for its role in ensuring one of their smoothest onboarding experiences.
When COVID-19 hit in spring 2020, Dial needed to adjust quickly to increased internet usage and remote work.
IP Pathways upgraded their infrastructure, boosting internet speeds and system performance to ensure residents could stay connected with loved ones and employees could work remotely without issues. “Communication has been key to the success in our partnership with IP Pathways. We have established monthly strategy meetings together and we’re constantly having discussions with IP Pathways to help us determine which direction our business needs to be heading, tech-wise. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.”
“If we look back on where we started, we’ve definitely come a long way. We’ve made great strides, and we’re becoming more agile in our system performance. During one of our last construction projects, which just started taking residents, we got some feedback from operations that it was one of the smoothest transitions in onboarding that we’ve handled thus far, so kudos to IP Pathways for being a huge part of that.”
